The Oriental Jade are an all-girl extension of The Oriental Odyssey. An all-girl group performing on chinese musical instruments became very popular in recent years, and this niche was filled with the advent of The Oriental Jade.
The Oriental Jade are high in demand and have performed for numerous events in town and out-of-state. Up to a maximum of 5 all-girl musicians can be arranged, subject to availability. Solo performances can also be requested for, especially on the yangqin or guzheng as these instruments have self-accompaniment capabilities.
The Oriental Jade are commonly hired in a group of two to four, consisting of the erhu, yangqin, guzheng and zhongruan. This setup may be further enhanced or replaced with other instruments such as the pipa and gaohu. Like The Oriental Odyssey, the core members that make up The Oriental Jade are professional musicians who also hold teaching positions at various schools and university.
The Oriental Jade are often engaged for shopping mall festivities, product launches and the opening of new establishments. As individuals, they are excellent musicians in their own right. As a group, they never fail to impress the audience wherever they perform.
