The BUSBAR STRING QUARTET were originally members of the Kuala Lumpur Symphony Orchestra who decided on one fine day in 1998 to explore and perform the much neglected chamber music to fill a local niche. Their humble beginnings eventually brought them to the frontiers of prestigious events as they are repeatedly engaged to perform for dignitaries such as kings and queens, prime ministers and sultans, as well as ambassadors from foreign countries.
Through the painstaking labour of collecting and rearranging music not available commercially, the BUSBAR STRING QUARTET are unique in their music repertoire. Over the last two decades, it is their excellent showmanship and excellent selection of music which have brought them great acclaims and approval from the audience. Their repertoire covers a wide range of music from classical and jazz to pop and easy listening.
As individuals, the members of the BUSBAR STRING QUARTET have appeared on television as supporting and accompanying musicians for local celebrities and international pop stars. As a group, they have done recordings for on-hold music, and have assisted final year audio engineering students with their studio recoring assignments. A brief list of the quartet’s previous engagements is provided further below.
The BUSBAR STRING QUARTET are a regular choice for weddings and anniversary celebrations, as well as for product launches and corporate events. The group is available for functions through special arrangements subject to their availability.
